The Nintendo Switch 2 just hit its lowest UK price yet — while Nintendo’s own official price has gone the other way. According to Metro (24 September 2026) and Trusted Reviews (23 September 2026), Argos and Smyths have been selling the console for £354.99. That is about £65 under Nintendo’s current RRP of £419.99 (raised earlier this month from the original £395.99, Metro reports), and Argos has advertised it as the console’s lowest price ever.

Quick note: RebX does not stock Nintendo Switch 2, and we do not claim day-one Switch 2 refurbished. This is a news/education piece for UK buyers deciding whether to grab this retail deal, wait for wider Christmas pricing, or choose a certified refurbished console that is actually listed in our shop — including last-gen Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when in stock.

Console launches and price jumps create noise. For many people the calmer high-end bargain is still a graded last-gen box with known testing and warranty — not a launch-cycle SKU you cannot verify. Remember: refurbished is not a regulated word in the UK retail sense people often assume — process, grade and warranty matter more than the label.

What the UK coverage actually says

Key facts from Metro and Trusted Reviews (cross-check live retailer pages before you buy — deals move fast):

  • Deal price: £354.99 at Argos and Smyths for the Switch 2 console (no game bundle called out in the Metro piece)
  • Official RRP now: £419.99 after Nintendo’s recent increase (Metro: up £24 from the original £395.99)
  • Why the hike: Metro links the rise to ongoing memory shortages and notes Nintendo raised Switch 2 pricing ahead of its one-year anniversary window
  • How unusual: Trusted Reviews calls £354.99 the lowest Argos has offered since launch in June 2025; Metro says other big retailers were still higher (EE around £368; Currys and Very around £389.99 at time of writing)
  • Smyths extra: Metro noted a carry-case add-on for £10 (down from £14.99) when buying from Smyths
  • Hardware reminder (Trusted Reviews): 7.9-inch 1080p screen, dock up to 4K with HDR/VRR, magnetic Joy-Con 2, GameChat, 256GB storage, full box with dock, grip, adapter and HDMI cable, plus a two-year manufacturer guarantee on new retail stock

That combination — official price up, selected retailers deep below launch RRP — is exactly the kind of short-lived window UK bargain hunters watch before Christmas.

Should UK buyers buy the deal, wait, or skip?

Buy the deal now if you already planned a Switch 2 for Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4 or the November Ocarina of Time remake Metro flags, you want the newer screen/dock/Joy-Con features, and £354.99 is still in stock at a retailer you trust. Metro’s warning is fair: once the cut is widely known, stock can vanish.

Wait if you are not sure you need Switch 2’s upgrades yet, you want more Black Friday / Prime Big Deal Days coverage later in the autumn, or you mainly play a library that still runs well on an original Switch or OLED.

Skip (for now) if your current console is fine, you would rather put the money toward games, or you want a certified refurbished last-gen console with published testing, cosmetic grade and warranty instead of chasing a new-SKU flash cut.

Metro also notes PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X were still far dearer new at about £519.99 and £619.99 respectively at time of writing — with little incentive for deep holiday cuts while GTA 6 demand sits near the PS5. That does not make Switch 2 “best overall”; it just clarifies why this particular cut stands out in the UK console aisle right now.

What it means for refurbished console shoppers

A temporary £354.99 Switch 2 deal does three practical things for used and refurbished console buyers:

  1. It resets the “good enough” bar — if you do not need 4K docked output, Joy-Con 2 mouse support or GameChat, a graded original Switch, Switch OLED or Switch Lite can still feel like a high-end bargain for portable Nintendo play
  2. It will eventually move trade-ins — more last-gen Switch hardware (and, later, early Switch 2 units) can enter used channels over the following months
  3. It raises the bar for sellers — buyers ask about Joy-Con drift history, dock HDMI behaviour, storage, battery honesty and whether the listing is OLED vs Lite vs standard

Early Switch 2 second-hand stock will be thin and uneven. That is why we are not promising refurbished Switch 2, and why a graded console with published testing often remains the sensible high-end bargain while the new model’s retail price settles.

When RebX lists consoles, they follow The RebX Promise: functional testing, secure wipe where applicable, cosmetic grading, then clean and pack (our 90-point quality check). Grades describe looks only. Fair includes a 6-month warranty; other grades include 12 months, with 30-day returns and free delivery. See our grades guide and used vs refurbished.

Checks before you buy used or refurbished consoles

  1. Exact model — Switch vs Switch OLED vs Switch Lite vs Switch 2 (and PS5 Disc vs Digital / Slim) are different products; confirm the listing title
  2. Controllers — Joy-Con / DualSense stick feel, buttons, and whether extras in photos are included
  3. Dock / HDMI — for dockable Nintendo and living-room boxes, ask whether video output was checked
  4. Storage & accounts — internal capacity and whether the console arrives factory-reset / wiped of prior accounts
  5. Battery honesty — handhelds age; ask how health was measured if no figure is published
  6. Cosmetic grade — photos should match the grade language (Fair → Excellent at RebX are looks only)
  7. Warranty and returns — length, cover, and whether you can send it back

If you’re comparing a brand-new Switch 2 at £354.99 against a graded last-gen Nintendo or a refurbished PS5 / Xbox Series X, price the total package: the games you will play, controllers included, warranty, and whether you need the newer screen and dock features — not the deal headline alone.

Bottom line

UK coverage from Metro and Trusted Reviews is clear: selected retailers have put Nintendo Switch 2 at £354.99 — an all-time low against a recently raised official RRP of £419.99. That is a genuine September 2026 deal story for anyone who already wanted the new console.

Buy new on that cut if Switch 2’s upgrades and upcoming first-party games are the point and stock is still there. If you’re shopping for a high-end bargain without chasing a flash retail SKU, treat the news as permission to ask whether a certified refurbished console — with proper testing, grade and warranty — already covers how you play.

RebX is covering the news; we are not claiming stock of Nintendo Switch 2. For devices we do sell, start with The RebX Promise, our grades guide, and browse consoles.

Frequently asked questions

Does RebX sell Nintendo Switch 2?
No — not as a listed model at the time of writing, and we do not claim day-one Switch 2 refurbished. Check our consoles collection for whatever models are actually in stock (including last-gen Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when listed). This article is news/education, not a stock claim.

How much is the Switch 2 deal in the UK?
Metro and Trusted Reviews both cite £354.99 at Argos and Smyths. Confirm on the retailer site at checkout — short-lived deals can sell out or change without notice.

Why did Nintendo raise the Switch 2 price?
Metro reports Nintendo increased the official UK price to £419.99 (from £395.99), linking the move to ongoing memory shortages around the console’s first-year window. The Argos/Smyths cut sits well below that new RRP.

Is refurbished safer than buying a used Switch 2 later?
It can be — when the seller tests function (controllers, dock/HDMI, storage), grades cosmetics honestly, clears prior accounts, and offers warranty/returns. Early launch second-hand stock will carry more unknowns. See our used vs refurbished explainer.
